Amazing Spider-Man #348 (June 1991)

"Righteous Sand"
Writer: David Micheline
Penciler: Erik Larsen
Inker: Randy Emberlin
Letterer: Rick Parker
Colorist: Bob Sharen

This issue opens with the Sandman getting kicked out of the boarding house where he's been staying. It seems that recently becoming a reserve Avenger and having his whereabouts made public has prompted news crews to surround the house at all hours, constantly shouting scoop-getting questions like "Is it true--" "Can you tell us--" and "Over here!" Leaving the house, Sandman shakes the reporters...using the power of turning into sand.

Cut to Soho, where Peter Parker and Mary Jane are discussing whether or not they're ready to take the next step in their relationship and have sex. Peter is all for it, with a succinct argument for coupling: "But I'm a reserve Avenger, baby!" However, big hair MJ will have none of it, as she is late to rehearse for a catfight.

Spidey ends up working out some of his pent-up frustration by swinging around the city, then receiving a tip about some violence that's about to go down at the trainyards. Meanwhile, Sandman gets a similar tip leading him in the same direction, and he also calls in the Avengers, and everybody gets something to hit. The end.

Note: This issue's title, "Righteous Sand," is a reference to what happens when two appropriate words are placed together randomly in a title in a way which creates no secondary meaning. Kinda like "Web Quips."
